Overview

LawyerKhoj ("we", "us") is built on a privacy-first principle: we never store the text of your legal situation. Your query is sent to our AI, processed, and immediately discarded. Only anonymised metadata is retained for service improvement.

What we collect

When you perform a search we log the following — none of which identifies you personally:

A one-way hash of your IP address (used only for rate limiting — we cannot reverse it to your IP)
A random browser ID stored in your browser's local storage (resets if you clear your browser data)
The location field you entered (city / country)
Inferred metadata: case category, urgency level, number of results returned
AI model used and estimated token cost (for our internal billing monitoring)
Your browser's user-agent string

We do not store your situation description, the AI's response, or any personally identifiable information.

Contact form

If you contact us via the contact form, we store your name, email address, and message in our database so we can reply to you. We do not share this with third parties. You may request deletion at any time by emailing support@lawyerkhoj.com.

AI training — our commitment

We do not use your input to train AI models. We utilise enterprise-level APIs to process your requests. Under our specific service agreements, your input data is processed in a transient state and is never used by our third-party providers to train their machine learning models.

Your legal descriptions are processed in real-time and are not stored in our database or used to train future iterations of any AI model.

Technically: your situation description is sent directly to the AI inference endpoint, processed in memory, and the response returned — no write operation stores your text at any point in the pipeline. It is never reviewed by humans or fed back into any model.

Analytics

We collect anonymised usage data (such as page views and feature interactions) to improve the service. You can opt out of analytics tracking via the consent banner shown on your first visit. Your preference is stored in your browser and can be reset by clearing your cookies.

Data retention

Search metadata logs are retained for up to 12 months and then deleted. Contact form submissions are retained until you request deletion or for a maximum of 24 months.

Your rights

Depending on your location you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you. Because we don't link searches to personal identities, the primary data we can action is contact form submissions. Email us at support@lawyerkhoj.com for any data requests.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be noted with an updated date at the top of this page.
